Makemie Woods is a Camp and Retreat Center owned and operated by the Presbytery of Eastern Virginia of the Presbyterian Church (USA).  Our ministry is providing a beautiful outdoor setting where children and adults can gather, play, pray and learn, encouraging one another in the name of Jesus Christ.

Makemie Woods offers a great summer camping program for kids entering first grade through Sr Hi, teaching essential life skills in a FUN and radically accepting Christian community. Many parents and campers continue to tell us about how their lives have been affected and changed by the camp experience.

Due to popular demand, a second session of Tack 'n' Trot  has been added for the week July 1 - 7 for rising grades 6-8 and includes boys as well as girls. An additional session of Night Owls for girls has been added, June 24 - 30, rising grades 8 -10. A number of sessions for younger campers have been expanded.

Our online registration program greatly enhances and streamlines the process, reducing postage costs and wasted paper.  Returning campers are able to register quickly with just a few clicks, and first-timers have an easier means of selecting programs that meet their schedules.

Our beautiful forest and scenic reservoir is a great setting for reflection, team building, learning and relaxation.  We can accommodate up to 130 guests in our seven all-season buildings, and another 50 in primitive seasonal longhouses used for summer camp.  See our facilities in more detail  or download our facilities brochure.

Makemie Woods also offers programming to help you make the most of your retreat experience--consider adding a flight on the ziplines, boating, archery or seeing the stars through the Brinton Observatory.
