Makemie Woods is a Camp and Conference Center owned and operated by the
Presbytery of Eastern Virginia of the Presbyterian Church (USA)   Your church supports Makemie Woods through its giving to Presbytery.

This summer, Makemie Woods will celebrate 45 years of outdoor ministry, enabling the children and youth of our community to explore their faith in Jesus (or maybe in meet Jesus for the first time!) in the context of Christian community in God's beautiful creation.

Many of the summer offerings have become so popular, they fill up within a week or two once registration begins.  While Makemie Woods is a ministry to all children, we are giving the campers from our PEVA churches a little head start in signing up.

So below is a special link to online registration.  We are updating the website with the Summer Camp schedule for 2009, updated descriptions, etc.  The printed brochures will be distributed to congregations on Jan 23 at the Presbytery meeting.  Registration officially begins for everyone on Jan 24.

Makemie Woods is not just for kids!  Many churches find Makemie Woods a great place for retreats, and PEVA churches receive substantially discounted rates.  Our monthly "First Friday" program for seniors includes a wonderful lunch and program and a great excuse to come to woods and relax with great fellowship.  We also offer a Single Parent Family Weekend in June, and we plan to offer Family camp again in August.  Check out our upcoming events.

Two New Ministries:  In October, Makemie Woods opened its EcoEternity Forest, an alternative green burial concept that helps conserve the forest while providing a beautiful and affordable option for families.  In November, our new Brinton observatory was dedicated, adding a fantastic opportunity for adults and kids to explore the stars.
