January 2005

MESSAGE FROM CAMPAIGN CO-CHAIRS
John & Pollie Morison

2005 is finally here!
It is the critical culmination year of a decade of visioning, planning, organizing, educating, cultivating and now the fundraising phase of
the roots & wings project.  All of these activities have been surrounded by prayer to ensure that we have been faithful to God’s calling and vision.  Now the excitment is truely building...

  • Beginning with the leadership of the Presbytery (Council, staff, campaign workers, clergy, church session leaders), this group will be solicited in January to demonstrate their support for this project through a pledge, which can be fulfilled over a five year period.
  • Next, a short list of potential donors will be solicited directly in January-February by Presbytery and campaign leaders.
  • The next group to be solicited in February and March will be those identified as potential Witness donors capable of a significant pledge.
  • By the April Presbytery meeting, the above Leadership, Major and Witness campaigns will be completed and the results announced at the meeting in preparation for the local congregational solicitation.

Our Prayer and Offer
We pray that everyone interested and involved in the successful completion of
the roots & wings project, which includes a modest contribution to the new church development at Stone House Presbyterian Church, is doing what is needed.  If you have questions or special needs, do not hesitate to contact John & Pollie Morison at johnmorison@cox.net and/or pwmbuckeye@cox.net.

God willing, this project will come to full realization and to His glory.
        IHL,  John and Pollie

HEALTHY COMMUNITY LIFE

The "Living Room" of the Presbytery

As you probably know, the plans for the Conference Center include a waterfront view, private rooms (72 beds), baths, air-conditioning, offices, dining room seating for 200, meeting rooms, and additional staff that will run an adult curriculum!

This new Conference Center can become the gathering place or living room for the Presbytery.  Our relationships with each other are important for a healthy community life.  A comfortable place to get away from our busy lives helps to nurture relationships between our churches, among ourselves within the Presbytery, and with God.  Let’s work together to build our very own living room!

PRAYER

Eternal and Merciful God:  You have called your people to the wilderness in order that your people may discern your will. You call us out of the busy world in order that you may greet us. In the wilderness, you await our visit. In the wilderness, you give your people guidance, direction, inspiration, and strength.

Lord, we need to go to the wilderness again in order that we may discover anew the freshness of your call. As we arrive, we ask that you speak to us, nurture us, and grace us. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Several Pastors have agreed to write an original prayer for the roots & wings project and its importance.  We invite you to incorporate this month’s prayer in your personal prayer routine and to share it with your congregation in worship, newsletter, etc.  Thanks to Pastor Sel Harris of King’s Grant Presbyterian Church for this issue’s prayer.
