MESSAGE FROM CAMPAIGN CO-CHAIRS
John & Pollie Morison

As we welcome April and spring, we look forward to flowers, sunshine and the April Presbytery meeting on April 26th at Makemie Woods.  Many plans are being made so that the results of the quiet campaign of leadership and witness gifts can be announced with success and enthusiasm.  Please mark your calendar so that you can be there for this special event.

If you are still contacting potential leadership or witness contributors, please complete those as quickly as possible.  If you have completed your list – thank you!  Time is of the essence so that we can have an exciting announcement at the April 26th Presbytery meeting.  We are looking forward to 100% participation, which will set the stage for overall campaign success!

The second postcard will go out early April to all households in the  database.  Then the week of May 1st, the brochures/pledge cards will be received in all households that were not solicited earlier.

This campaign that literally began ten years ago is going into its final phases, and it is our prayer that it will bring the success necessary to complete some of the renovations for the camp and permit us to expand that camp-for-kids ministry to include adults of all ages.

Imagine yourself at the victory celebration at Makemie Woods in September!

VIRTUAL TOUR

The virtual tour is now available on the  roots & wings  website.

Go to www.rwcampaign.org and click on virtual tour.  It is also available on cd-rom by calling Linda Smith at the Presbytery office.

IT'S ONLY A MONTH AWAY!

Each church is asked to plan a kick-off event for Sunday, May 1st.  CCMs should work with their pastor to plan an event that will be suitable for their congregation.  Each church has been supplied with a bag of  roots & wings  promotional materials to be used for a kick-off event as well as for the month of May.

Here are some things other churches are doing:
  • Hosting a breakfast on Sunday morning before Sunday School, announcing early campaign totals, and showing the campaign video.
  • Including a prayer and special announcement during worship, giving brief information on the campaign and reporting on early campaign totals.
  • Inviting the kids to share their own camp experience stories and singing a few camp songs during worship.
If you need help with ideas or resource materials, please contact Jean Knapp at 757-686-2223 or r.rwkjpk@verizon.net.

PRAYER

Eternal God: You are the Lord of the Easter Season. You are the Lord of Pentecost. You are Lord of your people. You call your people to bold new tasks; yet, we often move forward very slowly. Your Spirit moves us to new areas of ministry. You have provided us with all the resources that we need in order to be faithful in what you call us to do. Make us willing, ready, and able to use those resources to your glory and your honor. We are uncertain about moving into the future. Remind us, our Lord, that any step we take in the future is not alone. You guide us, lead us, and sustain us. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN

Thanks to Pastor Sel Harris of King’s Grant Presbyterian Church for this issue’s prayer.
