of working at Makemie Woods

There are millions of good reasons to work at Makemie Woods, but here are a few to look at as you decide where you will be applying for summer work:

Material Benefits:

  • A competitive salary, most of which goes straight into the bank
  • A paid 3-day, 4-night break during the camp season (see dates listed on the position description)
  • Room and board valued at $180/week (this means that ALL of your salary, except for taxes, is yours to use as you need to.) For more information on how this works, click here:
  • Travel allowance: we pay .48/mile for one round trip to the camp from your home, up to $75. (This does not apply to persons who live within 65 miles of the camp.)
  • Use of laundry facilities
  • Assuming you do an excellent job, excellent references to future employers

The REAL Benefits:

  • The best Boss of all: God, and some pretty decent, fair, and caring human bosses too.
  • Making friends that last a lifetime
  • Making a difference in the lives of kids
  • Invaluable experience in a myriad of different areas--working at camp relates well to many fields, especially those which involve "people" skills
  • Big steps in your walk with Jesus, and lots of folks walking right along with you.
  • Learning new songs, new skills, new ideas, which may include whitewater canoeing, sailing, acting, songleading, primitive fire starting, jumping from high places...
  • Hiking, swimming, canoeing, making campfires, pitching tents, sleeping under the stars... and getting paid to do it!
  • Singing cool songs, doing silly dances, laughing, playing and enjoying creation all to the glory of God...
