Mike
Burcher, Director
A
graduate of Duke Divinity School (1984), Mike has served MW since 1992. Each summer campers look forward to Mike's
campfires
and silly games. While she loves all the campers, the youngest
are
her favorites because they are usually the only ones shorter than she
is!
Before attending Duke, Mike graduated from William and Mary with
degrees
in Religion and Computer Science.
Previously, she has served as a
small church pastor, campus minister at East Carolina University, and
director
at Camp Albemarle in North Carolina. She and her husband Anthony have two
children, Sarah and Josh, two dogs, eight cats, and a partridge in a pear
tree. Mike has been described as "a strangely cool
combination
of awesome and rad." Mike co-authored a book with her husband,
Anthony, called Making Fun Out of Nothing at All You can buy
the book at Anthony's website,

Karen Broughman, Office Manager
Karen
has worked for the Presbytery for since 1991,and has been MW
Office
Manager since 1998. This makes her not only the longest-running PEVA employee, but
also
a really patient and tolerant woman! She's the friendly voice on
the other end of the phone line when you have questions, registrations,
or reservations.
Karen enjoys spending time with her sister,
taking walks outside, and singing in her church choir. She has performed
in her church's "Living Nativity" for many years now, stealing the show
playing the role of "Choir Angel #5." One of her unique
accomplishments
is having flown an airplane, although she has no plans of taking over
any
major domestic or international airline anytime soon.

outdoors: hiking, kayaking, and hanging out with her dog, Oliver.

Fran
Parkhurst, Food Services Manager
A
former restauranteur, Fran is best known for delicious home-made soups,
outstanding sub sandwiches and flexibility in being able to meet the
needs
and tastes of retreat groups. She is well-loved for adapting to
the
style of the group, be it youth or older adults. While Fran is a
superstar
in the kitchen, she claims her sewing career is nothing more than a
series
of humorous mistakes. Make sure you stop by and say hello to Fran
when you visit MW! |

Dick Green &
Monica Martin
Great
Gurus of Maintenance
Dick joined us in 2006, and brought with him a dry wit, an uncanny knack
for fixing things, and real patent (not for anything useful at camp, but
it's cool to say he has a patent anyway).
Monica has been
with us for many years and can mow a lawn like no one we have seen.
Monica's great sense of humor makes any job fun. |
