Summer Staff 2012

Come live in the woods, hike, canoe, swim, make crafts, sing songs, fly on zip lines, build fires, cook outside, explore nature, perform silly skits, befriend both campers and staff, serve God, and more...
and get paid to do it!
Every year, Makemie Woods seeks mature, Christian, young adults (age 18 and older and one year beyond high school) to serve God and others.  It is an experience of a lifetime for you and the campers you serve.  Spend two months learning about God and yourself while practicing skills that you thought you never had.

Makemie Woods is an overnight, residential camp that serves approximately 400 campers every summer.  Established in 1964, Makemie Woods offers a chance for campers to try new things, learn new skills,  make new friends, enjoy and appreciate nature, and most importantly develop and nurture their faith in Jesus Christ.  Every camper at Makemie Woods participates in Bible study led by a minister or church leader and daily devotions led by our staff.

In addition to growing in their faith, campers at Makemie Woods:
  • go canoeing or rowboating
  • practice new skills at our archery range
  • create awesome crafts like hemp, picture frames, and fuse beads
  • cook over an open fire
  • hike through our trail system
  • fly on our ziplines
  • meet our pet snakes and our tortoise, Herman
  • play exciting night games
  • participate in campfires; and more!
  • Older campers can choose an adventure trip such as whitewater canoeing or rafting, rockclimbing, sea kayaking, etc!
The next few pages will contain an extensive amount of information about what it means to be on staff and the steps you need to take to begin your journey.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.  We are here to help you and would rather you understand what you are getting yourself into.  Believe me, being on staff is one wild ride!
